Starting Up a New Business
For your first project in this course, you worked on a marketing plan for a new non-alcoholic drink business. Now instead of being the owner, you have been hired by the owner to be the human resources manager. The owner has taken care of the financing and has hired an accountant. Your responsibilities to get the business up and operational include hiring employees for the company and developing an orientation program for the new employees. Compile all of your information in a single document. This project is worth 100 points. It will count for fifteen percent of your course grade.
1. Your immediate needs for employees include a production manager, ten employees to work in production (bottling and packaging of the drink), and a marketing manager. For each of these three positions, write the portion of the job description that includes the duties and qualifications. Use the Internet or other resources to determine what should be included. (twenty points possible)
2. Determine what benefits you will offer to your employees. Use the Internet or other resources to determine what should be included. (fifteen points possible)
Project 2 2 BUSH 037
3. Write a “help wanted” advertisement for each of the three positions. Each ad needs to include a concise description of the job duties and qualifications. Use your imagination in including information about the company and the benefits (from #2) that employees will receive. Use the Internet or other resources to determine what should be included. (fifteen points possible)
4. Prepare a list of at least ten interview questions for each of the three positions, making sure that the answers to the questions will give you the information you need to determine who is the best suited for the positions. Be sure that you do not include any illegal questions. Use the Internet or other resources to determine what could be included. (twenty points possible)
5. Prepare a checklist of the items that will be covered in the orientation. Use the Internet or other resources to determine what should be included. (fifteen points possible)
6. Include a bibliography of references used. (fifteen points possible)
