homeless and indigent patients

Columbia Needycare is a clinic in south Florida that provides basic medical care for homeless and indigent patients. The clinic is a nonprofit organization that receives revenue from however much patients can pay at the time of their visit. These revenues totaled $5 million in 2017. The clinic’s expenses, other than its depreciation, totaled 70% of its revenues. The depreciation expenses were $1 million. Other than depreciation, the clinic pays all of its expenses with cash because all of its revenues are collected in cash. Based on this information, complete the following items for Part I of the case study.

Develop an income statement for Columbia Needycare for 2017.

Calculate the total profit margin and net income for the clinic.

Explain the difference between gross income and net income.

For Part II of this case study, suppose that the clinic has an opportunity to purchase an additional building in another part of the city to help more patients. The new building will cost $480,000, but it will also need $35,000 in renovations. Based on this information, answer the following questions:

Can the clinic afford to purchase and renovate the new facility?

Do you have enough information to make this decision? If so, how would you recommend that the clinic handle the financing for purchasing and renovating the facility? If no, what additional information would clinic managers need to make this decision?

Combine both parts of the case study in one document. Your case study must be at least two pages in length and use APA format. Be sure to include a separate title page and reference page. You are required to use at least your textbook for the assignment. You must cite and reference your textbook and any other sources used.

the Summerdale metropolitan area

Baldwin General is a hospital in the Summerdale metropolitan area that has seen a decline in revenues and investors backing out of its proposed new surgical wing. Consider the following data, and perform a DuPont analysis of the hospital:

Net Income          $1,218

Total Equity         $2,118

Total Revenues    $28,613

Total Assets         $9,869

Across town, Creek Park Hospital is performing well and just completed two additions to serve more patients. Consider the following DuPont analysis of Creek Park:

Creek Park ROE = Total margin x Total asset turnover x Equity multiplier  =           3.8%    x                     2.1       x       3.2

Perform a comparative analysis of Baldwin and Creek Park, and explain what issues you think Baldwin is experiencing in expenses, total asset turnover, and financial leverage. In your financial statement analysis, explain what steps you think Baldwin should take to improve its financial condition.

Your scholarly activity must be at least two pages in length and use APA format. Be sure to show your calculations in the analysis of Baldwin. You are required to use at least your textbook for the assignment. You must cite and reference your textbook and any other sources used.

social responsibility of two companies

Imagine that you have been hired as a consultant to investigate the social responsibility of two companies, TOMS Shoes and The Body Shop. Your manager finds both of these companies to be inspirational. She would like the SNHU Pet Supply Company to become more socially conscious and has asked you to investigate what Toms and The Body Shop are doing. You are responsible for researching how their socially responsible practices impact both the companies and their customers. Your manager would like you to make some suggestions about how the SNHU Pet Supply Company can become more socially responsible and make ethical decisions.

You will create an opinion brief about the two companies and suggest a social change for your company. Be sure to use evidence from the course (such as the definition of social responsibility found in your readings) to support your response and suggestions.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  • Socially Responsible Efforts: Describe each company’s efforts to promote ethical and social good.
  • Benefits: Describe the organizational benefits from adopting socially conscious policies.
  • Socially Responsible Policy: Suggest one socially responsible policy that the SNHU Pet Supply Company could put into place, and explain how this would benefit the company and its consumers.

Guidelines for Submission

Submit your brief as a one-page Word document using 12-point Times New Roman, one-inch margins, and double spacing. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

A successful dissertation requires

Milestone 3: Research Method Part 2

Work with your dissertation chair to determine any specific instructions or guidance that he or she may have for you.

For this task, you will continue building your research methods chapter (Chapter 3) for your dissertation. The Dissertation Proposal Template for BUS8105 will help you address the needed items for your methods section. However, different designs require different components. Be sure to work with your dissertation chair to determine what adjustments may be needed.

You will add to the work you completed in Milestone 2: Research Methods Part 1. Make adjustments to part 1 on the basis of feedback from your dissertation chair.

Then, add part 2 of the methods chapter, including:

  • Instrumentation
  • Research procedures

Important Note: Dissertation writing is highly recursive. As you write material in one section, you may need to make some adjustments or additions in other sections in order to build a cohesive document. For example, your selection of instrumentation and research procedures will likely create some changes for your Chapter 1. As you wait for feedback from your dissertation chair/committee, use the time to draft some of those adjustments.

Submission Details:

  • Submit parts 1 and 2 of the methods section, including appropriate documentation to support your choices.
  • Use APA style in preparing your paper and citing references.
  • Post the paper to the Milestone 3 Submissions Area.
  • Notify your dissertation chair (e.g., via e-mail) when you have submitted the topic paper.

Note: A successful dissertation requires self-directed behaviors. To successfully pass each dissertation course, you must successfully complete (pass) each milestone presented in the course materials. Additionally, you must complete the milestones in the order they are presented in the course. The tasks in some milestones may take you more than a week to complete. Finish each milestone before you move on to the next milestone. In your planning, also allow time for feedback from your dissertation chair/committee and revisions as part of completing each task.
